Nepse drops by a marginal 3.03 points, but daily turnover crossed Rs 3 billion

KATHMANDU, Jan 3: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Tuesday decreased marginally by 3.03 points to close at 2,061.06 points.



The secondary market opened at 2,064.09 points and dipped to the day’s low at 2,051.43 points. In the next moment, the index leapt as high as 2,081.53 points before going down around 20 points to close for the day.

The daily turnover increased to Rs 3.158 billion from Rs 2.96 billion on Monday. In the intraday trading on Tuesday, a total of 107 companies gained in their market prices, while 102 companies were the losers. The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chips companies fell slightly by 0.39 points.


Out of the 13 trading groups, only four—hotels and tourism, microfinance, mutual fund and trading—were the gainers. Out of the nine losing groups, life-insurance had a fall of 121.61 points in its market index.


Among individual companies, Himalayan Distillery Limited had the largest transactions of its shares worth Rs 431.96 million. Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was the top loser while Swet-Ganga Hydropower and Construction Limited gained the biggest percent of its market value.
