Nepse loses double-digit points on Wednesday; daily turnover falls to Rs 2.15 billion

KATHMANDU, Dec 28: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Wednesday declined 11.81 points, after the investors rushed to book profit that they earned from the past two days when the market rose by 116 points in total.



The market opened at 1,983.95 points and closed at 1,972.15 points. The index plunged as low as 1.962.83 points in the first 10 minutes of the commencement of the trading. However, the market hit the day’s high at 1,994.03 points in the next moment before losing around 22 points to close for the day.

Along with the market index, the daily turnover also plunged to Rs 2.15 billion. On Tuesday, when the market jumped to the past four months high, the daily turnover amount stood at Rs 3.88 billion.


In the intraday trading on Wednesday, a total of 149 companies lost in their market prices, while 60 companies gained in their shares prices. The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chips companies lost 4.72 points.


Five out of the 13 trading groups—finance, hydropower, life-insurance, mutual fund and non-life insurance gained in average market prices of their shares.  Out of the remaining eight groups, hotels and tourism had its index plunge 62.74 points, the largest of all.


Among individual companies, Nabil Bank had the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 88.59 million. Mahuli Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha was the top loser while Central Finance Co. Ltd gained the biggest percent of its share value.
