KATHMANDU, Dec 17: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged the government to rescue the Nepali citizens who have become involved in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Several Nepali citizens have joined the Russian and Ukrainian armies and some have died and while many others have been injured in the attack of the Ukrainian army.

The spokesperson of the NHRC, Tikaram Pokharel, issued a press release regarding the rescue. The press release reads, "It is seen that some Nepali citizens are undergoing treatment in certain foreign hospitals, some are under the control of opposing forces, and there are Nepalis on both sides in significant numbers in the military. The government has a duty to protect and rescue the human rights of Nepali citizens wherever they may be and in whatever circumstances they may find themselves."
In addition, the NHRC has requested the government to repatriate the bodies of those who died in the war and arrange for cremation according to their religion, culture and tradition, to take effective measures for the treatment of the injured, and to facilitate Nepalis who want to return to their country to return to their country through diplomatic initiatives.
The NHRC has requested the Government of Nepal to provide relief and compensation to the families of the deceased and the injured and to protect the lives and assets of Nepali citizens by putting an end to this type of illegal employment practices in the future.
