NIC Asia, Century Bank into quarterfinals

KATHMANDU, Oct 21: NIC Asia Bank, Century Bank and Kumari Bank secured quarterfinal spots in the Third Century Bank Corporate Super Sixes 2016 cricket tournament on Friday at the TU ground, Kirtipur winning their respective matches.

KATHMANDU, Oct 21: NIC Asia Bank, Century Bank and Kumari Bank secured quarterfinal spots in the Third Century Bank Corporate Super Sixes 2016 cricket tournament on Friday at the TU ground, Kirtipur winning their respective matches.



In the first pre-quarterfinal, NIC Asia overcame Prabhu Bank by four wickets as Dipesh Pradhan contributed 31 runs for the winning team. Chasing the target of 66 runs, NIC Asia made 68 runs with two balls to spare in the five-over per side match. Dipesh was declared the man-of-the-match. 



Century Bank registered a thumping 53 runs win over Machhapuchhre Bank for a place in the last eight. Batting first, Century scored 102 runs without fall of single wicket and restricted Machhapuchhre at 49/2. The man-of-the-match Suraj Timalsina contributed 36 runs for the winning team followed by 22 runs of Subash Sharma. 



Kumari Bank edged past Nimbus by 48 runs. Kumari restricted Nimbus at 22/3 in the latter's run chase of 71 runs. The man-of-the-match Sarbagya Thapa of Kumari cracked 30 runs.



Civil Bank also booked ticket for last eight defeating Sipradi by eight runs. Batting first, Civil scored 66/4 and restricted Sipradi at 58/3. Man-of-the-match Abhay Rana scored 34 runs for the winning team. Mega Bank also joined Civil in the last eight.
