According to the information officer at the Sindhupalchowk District Police Office DSP Madhav Prasad Kafle, the whereabout of the missing persons is yet to be traced despite the continuous search operation carried out by a 50-member joint team Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force (APF) personnel. “Although we are trying to take an excavator to the site, the difficult topographical condition in the area has impeded our effort,” he said

Five more dead bodies were recovered on Thursday, taking the death toll in the landslide to 30. Those killed in the incident include 16 children, five males and nine females, according to police.

The massive landslide that occurred on August 14 had swept as many as 37 houses and left 39 locals missing in the debris. Twenty nine houses were completely destroyed, while six other people sustained injuries. The injured ones have already returned home after recovery, police said.

Following the landslide, 172 households in Lidi were relocated to a nearby village Manedanda under the tents. Chief Minister of Bagmati Province Dormani Poudel has pledged to build houses for the locals displaced by the landslide.
