481 cases reported in the Valley in the past 24 hours
KATHMANDU, Sept 1: Though it has already been 13 days since the district administrations in the Kathmandu Valley enforced prohibitory orders in a bid to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the daily count of the newly-confirmed cases has been on the rise of late.
Only 70 samples tested on an average per day after lockdown
According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), as many as 481 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the past 24 hours in Kathmandu Valley, which is also the federal capital of the country. Of those found to have contracted the virus in the Valley, 393 are from Kathmandu district alone. Similarly, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur witnessed 58 and 30 cases respectively. Of the 1,069 patients diagnosed across the country on Tuesday, Kathmandu Valley alone reported 45 percent cases.
With this, the total number of COVID-19 infections in the Valley has soared to 5,724 --- 4,522 in Kathmandu, 685 in Lalitpur and 517 in Bhaktapur.
The Valley also reported two more deaths in the past 24 hours, according to the MoHP.
The district administration offices of the three districts of the Valley had decided to enforce a weeklong prohibitory orders starting August 19 owing to the rising number of COVID-19 cases, which was further extended by another week. The ongoing prohibitory orders are due to end on Wednesday midnight.
