No spectators allowed in ongoing Tri-Nations T-20 series amid COVID-19 fears

KATHMANDU, April 20: The entry of the audience has been restricted in the ongoing Tri-Nations T-20 series being played at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.



Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), issuing a public statement on Monday, said that the decision follows the government’s directive to restrict the gathering of more than 25 people at a place amid the ongoing surge in COVID-19 cases.

“We’d like to apologize to the audience for the inconvenience caused,” said Ashok Nath Pyakurel, CAN Secretary.


Along with the hosts Nepal, the Netherlands and Malaysia are participating in the series that kicked off on April 17. Nepal has so far registered two wins out of two matches played against the Netherlands and Malaysia. 


Nepal is leading the points table with four points while the Netherlands are on the second spot with two points. Similarly, Malaysia is at the bottom of the table after conceding losses in two matches.


Nepal is facing the Netherlands in Tuesday’s match at 1 PM.
