NPC to face SCBC in Kakarbhitta Gold Cup opener

JHAPA, Nov 21: The third edition of Mechi Netralaya Kakarbhitta Gold Cup Football Tournament is beginning from Wednesday with Nepal Police Club (NPC) taking on Indian team Subash Chandra Boys Club (SCBC) in the opening match.

JHAPA, Nov 21: The third edition of Mechi Netralaya Kakarbhitta Gold Cup Football Tournament is beginning from Wednesday with Nepal Police Club (NPC) taking on Indian team Subash Chandra Boys Club (SCBC) in the opening match. 



The tournament being organized by Kakarbhitta Football Training Center will feature a total of 10 teams from Nepal and India.

Subash Chandra Bose Club is the only international club coming to take part in the tournament. 


On the other hand, Rumpum Jhapa-XI, Agni Rupandehi-XI, Manang Marshyangdi Club (MMC), Armed Police Force (APF), Tribhivan Army Club (TAC), Himalayan Sherpa Club (HSC) and Far-Western-XI are the Nepali sides besides NPC to take part in the competition to be played at Kakarbhitta Secondary School’s ground. 


The champion of the tournament will bag a purse of Rs 801,000 while the runner-up will be rewarded with Rs 401,000. 


Meanwhile, president of Kakarbhitta Football Training Center Min Bahadur Basnet said that they have taken every minute detail into consideration during the preparation of the tournament. 


The main sponsor of the tournament is Mechi Netralaya and Ophthalmic Research Center while the co-sponsor is Mechi Bus Entrepreneurs Association. Jhapa XI is a defending champion of the tournament as the Jhapa-based club had defeated Armed Police Force (APF) in the summit clash.
