BARDIYA, Sept 26: A number of endangering Bengal tigers have significantly increased in Bardiya National Park. According to tiger census carried out in 2017 by the Bardiya National Park, the number has reached 87.
According to the census carried out in 2013 with the help of CCTV, the number was 50 and now the number has grown to 87.
Number of Bengal tigers in Bardiya National Park reaches 125
The number of tigers in 2016 as speculated by the staffers was 62. The DNA test on tigers’ excreta and automatic camera are used to calculate the number of tiers.
According to tiger census conducted in 2017, there are 235 Bengal tigers in Nepal. Of them, there are 87 in Bardiya, 93 in Chitwan, 21 in Banke, 18 in Parsa and 16 in Shuklafant National Park.
Bardiya National Park, WWF, National Resources Conservation Fund were involved in the tiger census in 2017. A total of 150 staffers had been in tiger census for 50 days.
