One Dalit woman candidate elected unopposed in Sindhupalchowk

SINDHUPALCHOWK, May 5: One Dalit woman representing CPN(Maoist Center) has been elected unopposed as chairperson of Ward-3 in Lisangkhupakhar Rural Municipality.

SINDHUPALCHOWK, May 5: One Dalit woman representing CPN(Maoist Center) has been elected unopposed as chairperson of Ward-3 in Lisangkhupakhar Rural Municipality.



She is Dhan Kumari BK. She was declared elected unopposed on Thursday by the office of Returning Officer established there.

Though another Dalit woman filed her nominations for the post of Ward chairperson, her candidacy had been cancelled due to lack of documents proving her claimed ethnicity.


According to Returning Officer Bed Prasad Kharel, Devi Shakya belonging to Nepali Congress had filed her candidacy for the post of Ward chairperson under  Dalit quota. But she failed to prove to the Office of Returning Officer that she belongs to Dalit community.


After the cancellation of her candidacy, Dhan Kumari had been declared elected unopposed, Returning Officer Bed Prasad Kharel told Republica Online.


Earlier, two UML candidates and one NC candidates had been elected unopposed in one municipality and two rural municipalities
