One man held with 1 kg illicit gold

KATHMANDU, August 1: Police have arrested one man with 1 kg illegal gold on Wednesday at around 7 pm in the capital.

KATHMANDU, August 1: Police have arrested one man with 1 kg illegal gold on Wednesday at around 7 pm in the capital.



Acting on a tip-off, a joint team deployed from Thankot-based Metropolitan Police Circle and Nagdhunga-based Metropolitan Police Division held Dindup Tamang,32, a resident of Gosainkunda Rural Municipality-5 in Rasuwa district, at Nagdhunga chekpost in Kathmandu while he was coming to the valley from Dhading on a Pulsar motorbike( Ba9Pa2726).

Police have also seized the motor cycle used by Tamang.


According to Deputy Superintendant of Police Hobindra Bogati who is spokesperson for Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range, Tamang had hidden a kilogram of four pieces of gold-like substance under his belt. “We found the stuff wrapped in black tape,” Bogati said.


Further investigation is underway, Bogati informed.
