KATHMANDU, March 22: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal meets 5 police officers who were recently promoted to the position of AIG of Police, as per the government's directive.

In a meeting at the office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar, Dahal congratulated the promoted AIGs and asked them to support the government's drive for good governance and prosperity.

The appointment of the IGP is taking place four days after the 5 AIGs who reached Singha Durbar along with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dhiraj Pratap Singh. On Wednesday, four days before the promotion of IGP, they wore the badge of AIG.

According to an official who participated in the meeting, Dahal said that all the promoted officers were good and instructed to work to raise the image of the organization and the government.

"Out of the 5 people who have been promoted now, one will be the IGP, let's work together," the source said, quoting the Prime Minister's statement, "AIG has been promoted on merit basis, no one has complained."

He said that the AIG promotion this year was undisputed and also expressed his happiness, said the official.

Currently, Prime Minister Dahl is also handling the responsibility of the Ministry of Home Affairs. On November 29, the ministry had recommended the promotion of DIGs Basant Bahadur Kunwar, Tek Prasad Rai, Deepak Thapa, Shyamalal Gyawali and Kiran Bajracharya to AIG.

Before that, the then DIG Ashok Singh was aspiring for promotion. However, he resigned after the date of birth controversy surfaced.
