NEPALGUNJ, April 20: The hospitals in Banke districts have decided to admit only serious COVID-19 patients as the hospitals in the district are overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients in recent days.

COVID-19 hospitals in the districts have already gone beyond their capacity.

The hospitals here have decided to admit only those with serious health complications and those requiring immediate oxygen therapy, said Tej Oli, resource person of the District Covid-19 Crisis Management Center.

Asymptotic patients and those with mild symptoms have been directed to stay isolated at their homes.

Bheri Hospital's Medical Superintendent Dr Prakash Thapa said that the 15-bed COVID intensive care unit is already overcrowded and the 102-bed corona special ward is fully packed with infected people. “There are 40 patients in the 15-bed ICU and beds meant for other patients have also been used for COVID cases,” he added.

Meanwhile, the public has been urged not to visit hospitals in general condition, not to leave home except for emergencies, compulsorily wear masks, maintain social distance, and self-isolate in case they have fever.

Those testing positive for the virus have been recommended to take rest at home, keeping records of body temperature and intake of paracetamol in case of having normal fever. (RSS)
