Ordinance to prosecute the acts of usury

KATHMANDU, May 10: The House of Representatives has unanimously approved the 'Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts related to the Civil Code, 2080'.



Finance Minister Dr Prakash Saran Mahat, on behalf of Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dhanraj Gurung, presented a proposal seeking approval of the ordinance in today's meeting of the HoR.

In the meeting, Speaker Devraj Ghimire informed that no vote was registered against the ordinance.


It may be noted that Law Minister Gurung has tabled the ordinance before the House of Representatives on May 7. The ordinance was issued by President Ramchandra Paudel on May 3.


The government decided to amend the law through an ordinance to address the problems of the usury victims.


The House of Representatives will meet again at 1:00 pm on May 15.
