Govt to wait for two more weeks before starting legal action
KATHMANDU, March 22: Despite government's warning of legal action, over 500 government employees deputed by the federal government to the offices in the provinces are yet to reach their new offices.
The Ministry of General Administration (MoGA), the central personnel agency of the government, says that it may still take at least another two weeks for all the officials to reach their workstations. The ministry had started deputing employees for the operation of the governments in all seven provinces from mid-January.

According to spokesperson of MoGA Shivaram Neupane, only a few ministries in the provinces have reported that all the deputed officials have assumed their offices. Due to the delay on the part of the deputed employees to assume their offices, the provincial governments in the provinces have not been able to carry out their administrative activities smoothly.
“Following warning of legal action from the prime minister as well as the minister for general administration, the number of employees joining their new offices in provinces has increased; but still around 500 employees are yet to assume their new positions,” Neupane said, adding, the government had deputed over 1,500 employees to the provinces.
He said that the government has already directed all the line ministries not to delay administrative formalities required for the deputation of the officials. The government has even warned of legal action against officials delaying administrative formalities for the deputation of the officials.
“Many officials could not reach their new offices on time due to administrative delays,” he added.
He said that the ministry has already asked the provincial government to inform the ministry whether all the deputed officials have joined the new offices or not. “We have presumed that all the deputed officials will reach their offices within the next two weeks. If employees fail to report to their duties even after two weeks, we will start legal action. But for now, we are in wait-and-see mode,” he added.
He said that the ministry is listing out officials who have already obtained deputation letters but are currently on leave and are dillydallying to join their new offices. “The number of such officials may be few. But we will take action against anyone who defies the government's instructions,” he added.
