Pakistan asks India about missing ex-Pak army’s status

KATHMANDU, June 2: Pakistan has asked Indian government about the status of its former military official who went missing in Nepal.



Pakistani government formally asked Indian Embassy in Islamabad about the condition of  , former military officer of Pakistan.


Indian media have viewed it as the Kulbhusan Yadav case, former Indian Navy officer, to whom Pakistan had announced capital punishment for spying against it.

Citing an anonymous security official, Indian media had reported that Indian side had kidnapped Habib to bargain that former Navy Indian officer be released and repatriated.


Islamabad had asked the Indian Embassy in Pakistan about Habib who was last spotted in Lumbini Airport on April 6.


 Pakistan has been claiming that The Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), a primary foreign intelligence agency of India, had kidnapped Habib and kept under its control even though India has been denying such allegations.


Pakistan had urged Nepal to search Habib. Habib was a former staff of Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan.


Habib’s family said he came to Nepal after he got an job offer of USD 800,000 from the United Nations based in Nepal.


According to his family members, an air ticket had also been sent to Habib.


 Pakistani media have been reporting that Habib was kidnapped by RAW after being lured to a lucrative job offer.
