Parki wins first SAG gold for Nepal in men's athletics (with photos)

KATHMANDU, Dec 6: Nepali athlete Gopi Chand Parki has won the first gold medal for Nepal in men's 5,000m run at the ongoing 13th South Asian Games.

KATHMANDU, Dec 6: Nepali athlete Gopi Chand Parki has won the first gold medal for Nepal in men's 5,000m run at the ongoing 13th South Asian Games.

In the competition held at the Dasharath Stadium on Friday morning, Parki completed the distance in 14:54:20 minutes leaving India's Sunil Dawar who took 14:55:21 minutes. Similarly, Parki's compatriot Hari Kumar Rimal won bronze in the event finishing the track in 14:57:07 minutes.
