Parliament Secretariat’s letter to SC regarding CJ Rana

KATHMANDU, Dec 7: The Federal Parliament Secretariat has sent a letter to the Supreme Court (SC) stating that the impeachment motion against the suspended Chief Justice (CJ) Cholendra Shamsher JB Rana has been inactive.

KATHMANDU, Dec 7: The Federal Parliament Secretariat has sent a letter to the Supreme Court (SC) stating that the impeachment motion against the suspended Chief Justice (CJ) Cholendra Shamsher JB Rana has been inactive.



On Wednesday, the General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat, Dr Bharat Raj Gautam, sent a letter to the Supreme Court stating that the impeachment motion against Rana has become inactive.

General Secretary Gautam has sent the letter to the President's Office, the Prime Minister's Office, the Office of the Council of Ministers, the Constitutional Council, the Supreme Court, the Judicial Council and CJ Rana, informing them that the impeachment motion against CJ Rana has become inactive.


Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has said that it is yet to receive the Parliament Secretariat’s letter regarding CJ Rana.


SC Spokesperson Bimal Paudel said that the Parliament Secretariat’s letter has not reached the Supreme Court yet. He said, “So far, there has been no formal information that the impeachment motion against CJ Rana has become inactive.”


Rana said that the Federal Parliament Secretariat has sent a letter to the Supreme Court stating that the impeachment motion against him has been inactive and that he is going to the apex court today to resume his responsibilities.
