Parliament session to prorogue from midnight today

KATHMANDU, April 3: The first session of the Federal Parliament comprising the House of Representatives and the National Assembly is to be prorogued from 12 tonight.

KATHMANDU, April 3: The first session of the Federal Parliament comprising the House of Representatives and the National Assembly is to be prorogued from 12 tonight. 



At the conclusion of the today's parliament meeting, Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara read out from a letter sent by President Bidya Devi Bhandari announcing the prorogation of the first session of the Federal Parliament. 


The first meeting of both the Upper House and the Lower House of the federal parliament had started on March 5.

Meanwhile, the maiden session of the House of Representatives was held for 11 times in nine days over a span of one month, since it began on March 5. 


At the meeting of the HoR today, speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara shared that the lower house business lasted for a total of 15 hrs 30 minutes. 


During the period, the HoR endorsed the Interim Rules of Procedures, 2074, held election for the post of Speaker and Deputy Speaker and saw Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli winning a vote of confidence. Four ordinances were also approved. 


President Bidya Devi Bhandari addressed a joint meeting of the HoR and the National Assembly on March 28. Likewise, the Prime Minister addressed the lower house twice, making statements of public importance. 


The session of the HoR is being prorogued from midnight today.
