Parliamentary committee discusses land use issues

KATHMANDU, Feb 18: Experts have suggested for an act granting the people's right to the use of land with the provision of state control over it, if necessary. 



In a meeting today of the Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resources Committee; agriculture experts Krishna Poudel and Punya Prasad Oli, and Rastra Bank's former governor Deependra Bahadur Chhetri suggested making the agriculture as an occupation of the people.

The House of Representatives earlier had sent the Land Use Policy Bill-2075 BS' to the committee for clause-wise deliberations. 


The committee summoned the three experts to the meeting, seeking to collect constructive and substantive feedback regarding the bill. 


The meeting was chaired by committee president Purna Kumari Subedi. 


The bill has classified the land into 10 categories including agriculture land, residential, commercial and industrial, proposing a fine up to 300 thousand for those keeping the arable land barren. RSS
