KATHMANDU, March 10: A clean-up campaign will begin in the Pashupati Temple area from tomorrow (Saturday).
Employees of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and its 21 subordinate bodies have been directed to compulsorily participate in the three-month campaign.
As part of the campaign, the government employees have to spend two hours of their time every Saturday morning from 8AM to 10AM.

The ministry has directed in this regard after the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT), a government institution established to conserve and operate the Pashupati Temple and surrounding heritages, found it difficult to tidy up the area alone, said Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati.
The ministry through its secretary-level meeting has directed the government employees of all its subordinate bodies to attend the tidy-up drive, he said.
Office-bearers and employees of the Department of Tourism, Department of Archeology, National Archives, Nepal Copyright Registrar's Office, Language Commission, Nepal Academy, Nepal Academy of Music and Drama, Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Nepal Airlines Corporation, Cultural Undertaking Nepal and Nepal Tourism Board have been urged to participate in the clean-up program.
Similarly, the office-bearers of Hanumandhoka Palace Museum Development Committee, Patan Palace Museum Development Committee, Nepal Tourism and Hotel Management Institute, Narayanhiti Palace Museum and Republic Memorial Management and Operation Development Board, Taragaon Development Committee, Buddhist Philosophy Promotion and Monastery Development Committee, Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Bikas Samiti (Calendar Determination Committee), and Shree Bauddhanath Area Development Committee have been asked for the same.
As per the ministry's direction, PADT will provide equipment and materials used for the cleanup campaign, said PADT's council member, Purna Sangam Jethara.
