KOHALPUR, Oct 2: People going to the remote districts of Karnali have not been able to go home during the festive season due to the lack of flights.

They are stranded in Nepalgunj. As air travel is the only means of transport to Simikot in Humla, the passengers are stuck in Nepalgunj after private companies have focused their flights in Kathmandu. At present, Summit Air has only one aircraft to fly from Nepalgunj to the Himalayan district of Karnali.

The passengers waiting for a Summit Air flight find themselves at the airport in a desperate situation. No one who reached the airport to get a ticket for Humla has been able to fly.

The airline staff are replying that the tickets are already sold. One of the passengers expressed his anger and said, "We were forced to return because we didn't get air tickets. Only those people who have power connections and know someone are able to fly." Along with private airlines, the government-owned Nepal Airlines planes are also not available in Nepalgunj.

The airport counter of Nepal Airlines is closed. The people are disappointed and are forced to return. Passengers say that they are facing more hardship as the private Tara Air aircraft is in Kathmandu as well.
