KATHMANDU, Feb 14: A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court demanding immediate implementation of the local level restructuring commission's report.
Advocate Chiranjivi Nepal filed the writ petition on Monday demanding that the government immediately endorse the commission's report and publish it in the Nepal Gazette for the implementation of new local units.
SC seeks implementation report on its Fewa order

The commission submitted its report proposing altogether 719 local units under the federal system on January 6 but the govenrment has yet to acknowledge the report.
In the writ petition, Advocate Nepal has argued that the government cannot review the commission's report as the commission has finalized new local units in line with the rights enshrined by the new constitution to the body.
The writ petition stated that amending the commission's report by the government will not be in line with the existing law as the constitution has clearly stated that the local units will be restructured by a commission. Similarly, the petition also demanded with the SC to issue mandamus order to the government to announce date for local polls in line with the commission's report.
It has been argued in the writ petition that the commission's report must have been automatically implemented once it was submitted to the government as the constitution has envisioned a commission to restructure local units in the new federal system.
A similar writ petition demanding local polls is already sub judice. The Supreme Court is scheduled to issue a final verdict on the petition on February 22.
