KATHMANDU, Nov 14: Two separate writ petitions were filed at the Supreme Court on Wednesday, demanding that the court order the government to protect the Nepali territories of Kalapani, Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh and Susta.
One petition was filed by advocate Kanchan Krishna Neupane and another was filed jointly by advocate Sujit KC and lecturer Phanindra Nepal.

The petitioners have sought a mandamus order to the government authorities to protect Nepali land, issue a new political map of the country by incorporating these territories inside Nepal and take diplomatic, political and legal initiatives by invoking international laws to seek the support of the UN to retrieve the territories encroached by India.
The petitioners have claimed that the map recently issued by the Indian government undermines the sovereignty and integrity of the nation and the integrity of the people of Nepal.
The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the ministries of Defense, Home, and Land Reforms and the Department of Survey have been named defendants in the petitions. The petitioners have sought a mandamus order to make the government do everything possible as per the Article 2,3,4 and 5 of the Constitution to protect the sovereignty and integrity of Nepal.
The petitioners have argued that it is the basic duty of the government to protect its territory. They have also stated that it would be against national and public image to not seek all possible ways to retrieve the encroached land.
