Phanindra Devkota challenges Maoist Center’s decision at Supreme Court

KATHMANDU, June 20: Phanindra Devkota, leader of the Nepal Samajbadi Party and a member of the Gandaki Provincial Assembly, has filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court against the CPN (Maoist Center)’s decision to revoke his status as an MP.

KATHMANDU, June 20: Phanindra Devkota, leader of the Nepal Samajbadi Party and a member of the Gandaki Provincial Assembly, has filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court against the CPN (Maoist Center)’s decision to revoke his status as an MP, claiming it as unconstitutional. The hearing is scheduled for Sunday.

Devkota, who served as the Minister for Energy, Irrigation, and Drinking Water, was removed from his post and MP status for supporting Nepali Congress Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey against the whip of the Maoist party.
