PHC to begin hearing process for proposed chief election commissioner today

KATHMANDU, March 31: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) is starting process for conducting the hearing of proposed Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Thapaliya on Sunday.

KATHMANDU, March 31: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) is starting process for conducting the hearing of proposed Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Chandra Thapaliya on Sunday.



A meeting of the PHC is scheduled to take place to this effect today at 11 am. The meeting will seek complaints against the proposed chief at the Election Commission giving 10 days time for the same.


On March 25, the Constitutional Council had recommended the name of Thapaliya for the post of Chief Commissioner at the Election Commission. Thapaliya, a senior bureaucrat, is currently serving as the secretary at the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration.

The election body has remained headless following the retirement of Ayodhee Prasad Yadav retired on Sunday.


The council had also recommended the name of Bishnu Maya Oli for the member of the National Inclusive Commission.
