LALITPUR: As Dashain, one of the major festivals of Hindus, is just a few days away, the idol makers in Lalitpur are busy molding clay to shape goddess Durga.

The clay is mixed with hay-straws and husks. The molding usually begins from the end of September.

Once a shape is given to the clay, it is left to dry in the sun for 2-3 days.

Head of the idol is one of the most difficult parts to make, which takes more than 4 days to complete.

The idols are then painted and ready for sale during the festival.

Goddess Durga is worshipped by Hindus during the Dashain festival marking Lord Ram's victory over Ravan, signifying the victory of good over bad.
