KATHMANDU, Aug 1: The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC) has directed the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Foreign Ministry (MoFA) not to forward the agreemo related to the proposed ambassadors until the conclusion of the parliamentary hearing process.
Monday’s meeting of PHSC determined that the government has not seriously taken the jurisdiction of PHSC as the meeting of the Council of Ministers had decided to forward the agreemo of the proposed ambassadors without endorsing their names by the House panel.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers on June 8 had decided to send letters to concerned countries for agreemo of the proposed ambassadors as per the recommendation of the Foreign Ministry.
The meeting of Council of Ministers held on April 15 had recommended the name of 22 ambassadors at different countries.
Committee member and Nepali Congress (NC) Chief Whip Chinkaji Shrestha blamed that the government has neglected the PHSC's jurisdiction and said that the government should be alerted to not carry out such activities in the days ahead.
Similarly, another PHSC member and CPN-UML's Chief Whip Bhanubhakta Dhakal said that the government might have decided to send letter to concerned countries for the agreemo of the proposed ambassadors at a time when the PHSC was not formed due to the delay in the formulation of the parliament regulation.

CPN (Maoist Center) Chief Whip Hitraj Pandey stated that the government was interfering in the jurisdiction of PHSC and spoke of the need to prevent government from the same in coming days.
Chief Secretary Somlal Subedi shared that the Council of Ministers has decided to send the names of the ambassadors designate to the respective countries they are designated.
Foreign Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi, however, said that MoFA is yet to send the names of the ambassadors to their respective countries. RSS
