KATHMANDU, May 26: The Constitution Watch Committee has concluded that the controversial move of Prime Minister K P Oli to dissolve parliament after he lost crucial vote of confidence in parliament has brought serious deviation in constitutional system, parliamentary democracy and the implementation of judicial system in the country.
Issuing a statement on Wednesday, the CWC, which is led by former Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha, also expressed serious concerns over the tendency of those in power to do anything possible to prolong their stay in power. The CWC maintained that it is against the principle of rule of law to have a strategic thinking to displace justification of the judicial decision to reinstate parliament instead of making beneficial use of the parliamentary system after the apex court earlier reinstated the dissolved parliament.

The CWC also said that the move of Prime Minister K P Oli not to facilitate constitutional process to reach its natural conclusion after his government repeatedly failed to secure vote of confidence in parliament is not a good sign for democracy and constitutional system in the country.
Those issuing the statement include Former Chief Justice Sushila Karki, Himalaya SJB Rana, Tirtha Man Shakya, Khim Lal Devkota, Mohan Das Manandhar, Dr.George Varughese, Dr Sheelu Manandhar Bajracharya, Dr Rishikesh Wagle, Dr Bipin Adhikari, Chandeshwar Shrestha and Krishna Man Pradhan.
