Pokhara Premier League season 2 postponed

KATHMANDU, Oct 22: The second season of the Pokhara Premier League (PPL), a lucrative franchise T20 cricket event, has been postponed for a month citing busy cricket schedule. Managing director of PPL Chhumbi Lama confirmed the change in dates through a press release on Monday.

KATHMANDU, Oct 22: The second season of the Pokhara Premier League (PPL), a lucrative franchise T20 cricket event, has been postponed for a month citing busy cricket schedule. Managing director of PPL Chhumbi Lama confirmed the change in dates through a press release on Monday.



The Queens Event Management, the organizing team of PPL, is set to host PPL from December 14 to 28. The tournament will start two days after the completion of South Asian Games (SAG).

Previously, the PPL was scheduled for November 12 to 23.

The England-based Marylebone Cricket Club, the oldest cricket club in the world, is scheduled to travel Nepal from November 1 to 12. The club is proposed to play multi-day, one-day and T20 matches with Nepal national cricket team during the tour.


Similarly, the U-19 national cricket team of Nepal is scheduled to tour India from November 9 to 16 which will involve majority of players contracted by PPL franchises.


Likewise, the closed camps for the preparation of the SAG, scheduled for December 1 to 12, will start from mid-November. Men’s team will train at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground whereas women’s team is set to camp at Pokhara’s cricket venue which is being also used for PPL.


Sharad Vesawkar-led Pokhara Paltans, who defeated Paras Khadka-led Chitwan Rhinos in the final match last season, Sompal Kami-led Butwal Blasters, new vice-captain of national cricket team Dipendra Singh Airee-led Dhangadhi Blues, Nepali globe-trotter Sandeep Lamichhane-led Biratnagar Titans, and Gyanendra Malla-led Kathmandu Royals are the six franchise teams of the league.
