BANKE, July 29: A police personnel has sexually abused a woman, who is in the custody of the local police office, in Banke.
Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Prabin Chaulagain also allegedly made a rape attempt at around 2 AM on Friday. He allegedly assaulted and attempted to rape the woman.
The rape attempt, however, could not succeed after the woman, who was detained on a polygamy case, resisted. According to sources, Chaulagain was in a drunken state when the incident took place.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Madhusudan Neupane said that further investigation is currently underway in connection with the incident. "We listened to the victim," he said. “We have also taken the accused ASI Chaulagain under control for necessary action.”
Sources at Area Police Office, Kohalpur, Chaulagain called the woman in the detention cell and took her to a room on the upper floor. He then attempted to rape her. The woman and her husband were detained in a polygamy case nearly a week ago.
