KATHMANDU, March 30: National Assembly member Dr. Bimala Rai Paudyal has asked the political parties not to protect the loan shark business.

Speaking at Thursday's National Assembly meeting, National Assembly member Dr. Paudyal said that the victims are saying that the loan sharks are being protected by political party workers. "Yesterday [Wednesday] when we went there, what did the women there say? They (loan sharks) are party workers, party leaders, they know the CDO, the police, so how do we get justice?" That was the question. Are we protecting party workers? The parties had to speak up," she said.

Dr Poudyal asked political parties to stop protecting such party workers. While expressing her displeasure over the denial of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) to even stay in Khulla Manch area, she said, "Khulla Manch is the only thing in Kathmandu. Can't Madhesi women coming from Madhesh set foot there?” she asked.
