Possibility of forming NC-led govt in Province 1: Minister Khadka

MORANG, Oct 23: Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Narayan Khadka has said that there is a possibility of forming a government under the leadership of Nepali Congress (NC) in Province 1.



Speaking to media persons at the Biratnagar Airport on Saturday, he said that a decision on who would form the government will be taken after a vote of confidence on Sunday. Minister Khadka said that Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba would decide the package of the provincial government on the basis of discussion and consensus among the ruling parties.

He said that a proposal has been made to the ruling alliance that the governments of Province 1 and Bagmati Province be led turn by turn but no decision has been taken yet. Minister Khadka also said that the MCC would be passed through consensus as the NC alone doesn’t have the required majority votes in parliament.


Similarly, Minister Khadka said that the National Census Office would make arrangements for conducting the census in the Lipulekh area. In response to a question, he said that "early elections" is not possible for now but could be held in March or April next year if an agreement is reached between the ruling coalition parties.


Likewise, he expressed his heartfelt condolences to the victims of the recent floods and landslides caused by the incessant rains and pledged to provide additional relief after collecting data on total damage.
