KATHMANDU, Nov 3: President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun attended Chhath festival celebration at Kamal Pokhari in the capital on Saturday.
On the occasion, President Bhandari worshipped and offered argha to the setting sun. The program organized by Kamal Pokhari Chhath Worship Committee. On the occasion, the president honored the members of organizing committee for their contributions in promoting Chhath festival.

Vice President Pun also worshipped the Chhathi Mai. Kamal Pokhari Chhath Worship Committee has been organizing special function to mark the Chhath festival in capital for the past nine years.
Devotees are thronging the Kamal Pokhari premises to worship the Chhathi Mai on this auspicious occasion. Today is the main day of Chhath festival which is especially celebrated in Terai.
There is a religious belief that one will not suffer from the skin-related ailments if he/she offers argha to the sun god.
Every year, the festival begins with oblation to the setting sun and concludes with the rising sun.
