President's message on Jitiya festival

KATHMANDU, Sept18: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has extended her best wishes to all Nepalis on the occasion of the Jitiya festival today. Extending her message of best wishes, she wished for peace, prosperity and happiness.

KATHMANDU, Sept18: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has extended her best wishes to all Nepalis on the occasion of the Jitiya festival today. Extending her message of best wishes, she wished for peace, prosperity and happiness.



Festivals like Jitiya foster mutual respect, harmony and tolerance in the Nepali society rich in diversity in terms of geography, caste, religion and culture. It helps to contribute to national unity, President Bhandari added.

"On the one hand, we need to protect our tangible and intangible cultural heritages, while on the other, we have to reform the discriminatory pracitces against women that have found continuity in society in the name of culture and tradition," she stressed.


The Jitiya festival is celebrated by the women, especially of Tharu and Madhes communities, wishing for good health and longevity of their children and family.
