Prez Bhandari writes to UK Queen Elizabeth II requesting for COVID-19 vaccines

KATHMANDU, May 31: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has sent a letter to the Queen of the United Kingdom (UK), Elizabeth II asking her support to send COVID-19 vaccines to Nepal.

KATHMANDU, May 31: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has sent a letter to the Queen of the United Kingdom (UK), Elizabeth II asking her support to send COVID-19 vaccines to Nepal. 



According to the Embassy of Nepal in the UK, the letter from President Bhandari was forwarded to the British Queen through the Foreigh, Commonwealth and Development Office of the UK on Sunday.

President Bhandari has stepped up vaccine diplomacy to make vaccines available in the country as the country has witnessed a sharp spike of COVID-19 with the outbreak of the second wave of the virus. 


Earlier, she also talked over telephone with Chinese President Xi Jinping and sent separate letters to Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and the US President Joe Biden to help supply COVID-19 vaccines to the Himalayan nation.
