Province 1 reports five new deaths, COVID-19 death tally nears 100

MORANG, Oct 9: Province 1 has reported five new deaths related to novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).



While two of the deceased persons breathed their last while undergoing treatment at Nobel Teaching Hospital in Biratnagar, one other died in Koshi Hospital. Similarly, two other COVID-19 patients died while undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan.

The 72-year-old man from Rangeli of Morang passed away at 9:30 PM on Thursday, according to Managing Director of Nobel Hospital Narayan Dahal. Family sources said he was suffering from thyroid and lung problems for long. 


Another patient dying of this viral infection in the course of treatment at the same hospital was the 45-year-old male from Dharan-12, Sunsari.


Meanwhile, a 20-year-old inmate at the Morang District Prison died while undergoing treatment at Koshi Hospital at 10:15 AM on Friday. The patient hails from Itahari-4, Sunsari.


Those dying of COVID-19 at BPKIHS on Friday include a 68-year-old male from Itahari-6 and a 52-year-old male of Duhabi in Sunsari district. They breathed their last while undergoing treatment.


With this, the total number of fatalities due to COVID-19 infection in the province has reached 94. The number includes 71 males and 23 females.
