Kusunda’s last surviving man no more

TANAHUN, April 18: The last male survivor of Kusunda community, Raja Mama passed away in his house at Dihi Gaun of Byas Municipality-10 at 5:00 AM today.

TANAHUN, April 18: The last male survivor of Kusunda community, Raja Mama passed away in his house at Dihi Gaun of Byas Municipality-10 at 5:00 AM today.



Mama had fallen unconscious while returning from toilet. With the help of his neighbors, he was laid to bed where he breathed his last breath after drinking a cup of tea, Indra Maya Kusunda, also known as Rani Maiju and the deceased’s wife said.

He will be cremated at Seti Madi Dovan today after final tribute, according to District Coordination Council of Nepal Indigenous Nationalities.


“The death of Raja Mama is a great loss. He will always be remembered for his role to preserve Kusunda culture,” the DCC of NIN said.  


He is survived by his wife and his daughter, Simanta Kusunda.
