Rape-accused Tolangi sent to jail for investigation

MORANG, Dec 30: Bijay Tolangi, 26, the ward member of Belbari Municipality-2, who was accused of rape, has been sent to jail. Tolangi was sent to Morang jail for judicial remand on Thursday.

MORANG, Dec 30: Bijay Tolangi, 26, the ward member of Belbari Municipality-2, who was accused of rape, has been sent to jail. Tolangi was sent to Morang jail for judicial remand on Thursday.



Morang District Court Judge Mohan Subedi's bench ordered him to be detained for preliminary investigation on the charge of raping a 24 year old girl. According to Hem Bahadur Budhathoki, the information officer of Morang District Court, the bench of Judge Subedi gave an order to keep Tolangi in custody and proceed with the trial of the case.

The girl has claimed that she was raped by Tolangi on August 3. Tolangi absconded after the complaint was filed against him. Later he was arrested on November 19. He was elected as an executive member of the municipality from the Nepali Congress.
