A three-day training of ‘Root Art’ along with an exhibition of sculptures made of roots is underway since Wednesday at Jaburta Art Musuem, Sindhuli.

According to the press statement released by Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), the program aimed at promoting handicraft items made with locally available items. The program is being organized in association with the Jara Foundation Nepal and NAFA’s Department of Handicraft. It was inaugurated by Khadga Bahadur Khatri, head of Kamala Mai Municipality, and local artist Bishambhar Lamichhane, according to the press statement.


The sculptures at the exhibit are created by artist Khatri. The press statement quoted Sushma Rajbhandari, department head of handicraft at NAFA saying, “The handicraft items should be created using local resources and these artworks should be used by government officials to encourage the local artisans, and to create an income generating source for the locals.”
