KATHMANDU, Nov 20: Sagar Bishwakarma Sunar, 28, is set to climb the world’s highest mountain, Mt Everest this spring, to succeed as the world’s shortest man to summit the highest point in the world.
Sunar, standing 3 feet 7 inches, is a resident of Madi Rural Municipality-11 of Kaski district.

Although many differently-abled people have scaled the mountain in the past, Sunar will be the shortest man to reach the top of the world. Sunar recently returned from the summit of Ramdung peak (5925m) and is hoping to summit the world’s highest mountain in spring.
“It has always been a dream of mine to climb the Sagarmatha. I also want to scale the mountain to raise awareness about the natural disasters caused by climate change in the mountain regions, as well as empower short people like me,” Sunar said.
On December 4, 2009, the then Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal led-government had held a Cabinet meeting at Kalapatthar to spread awareness on climate change. The meeting had also released a 10-point Everest Declaration.
