SC orders govt to make public assets of high ranking officials

KATHMANDU, April 3: The Supreme Court on Monday directed the state authorities to follow the existing provisions of the constitution in making public the assets details of high-ranking officials post 1979 referendum.

KATHMANDU, April 3: The Supreme Court on Monday directed the state authorities to follow the existing provisions of the constitution in making public the assets details of high-ranking officials post 1979 referendum. 



A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Deepak Raj Joshee and Justice Sharada Prasad Ghimire issued the directive to the concerned authorities to do the needful in order to make public the assets details of the public office bearers of the executive, legislative and judicial bodies as well as high ranking security officials and bureaucrats.

The bench was responding to a writ petition filed by Maoist youth leader Krishna KC demanding the authorities to make public the assets details of those officials who held public posts after 1979. 


Claiming that corruption and irregularities caused by the power holders was the main reason of the pathetic situation of the country, KC had lodged the petition demanding the apex court's intervention to make public the assets.
