A single bench of justice Dambar Bahadur Shahi quashed the writ petition filed by advocate Sallu Tiwari and Sabin Pokharel. The bench even did not issue show cause notices in response to the petition.

The petition was lodged stating that the appointment of Renuka Sah, Navaraj Thapaliya, Ujjwal Shukla, Dal Kumar Khadka, Bimal Subedi, Sarala Pandey, Jagat Bahadur Thapa and Anju Upreti Dhakal was unconstitutional as they did not have required qualifications for high court judges.

The petitioners claimed that the Judicial Council appointed those lacking necessary qualifications and work experience as required by the constitution.

On April 3, the JC had recommended 18 names including the eight for appointments in vacant judges positions at the high courts. Although the nominations of the eight had created controversy in the judicial circles, they were ultimately appointed to the posts.
