Dal Bahadur Sawad of Budhiganga Municipality had filed a writ petition against the decision of the commission and demanded recounting of votes instead of holding election again. The apex court has now paved the way to hold elections in the municipality on July 7.

The Election Commission had earlier canceled the poll held in April and decided to hold the polls again.
