KATHMANDU, Feb 5: The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to accept a contempt of court case against Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli.

Supreme Court's Registrar Mahendranath Upadhyay neither registered the case nor rejected it formally but refused to register it stating that the petitioner could not mention the ground for its registration.

Manoj Adhikari had filed the petition at the apex court claiming that Chief Justice Parajuli committed contempt of court. The petitioner argued that the chief justice himself committed the crime by threatening the lawyer of Dr Govinda KC. As per the law, anyone threatening any party involved in sub judice case would be tantamount to contempt of court. Dr KC's lawyer was pleading on behalf of the senior orthopedic surgeon, who is also facing a contempt of court case.

There is a legal provision either to register or to reject a petition produced before the court showing valid ground.
