The case arose from an assault by Manange's gang against the rival gang of Milan Gurung alias Chakre Milan.

The other three convicted including Rewat Karki appealed to the SC four years ago, but not Manange.

In its ruling on Tuesday, the SC upheld the appellate court verdict. Following the SC ruling, Manange will be prevented from taking up his seat in the provincial assembly and there will be a fresh poll to elect another lawmaker in his place.
