JUMLA, Dec 24: The District Education Committee – Jumla has taken a 15-point decision on principle level for effective implementation of the affordable, cost free and mandatory education policy along with plans for educational reform and quality enhancement.

As part of the decision, the district will prioritize merger of schools on brink of closure and facing a host of problems. A school merger committee has been formed under the coordination of school inspector, Makar Bahadur Bhandari, with district's political party representatives and various teacher associations' chairpersons as members.

The Committee will prepare a report on the schools' geographical situation, access, students' admission rate, student population, teachers official posts, lack of specialized teachers and the dwindling quality of education as well as the need to adopt scientific measures and merge schools. RSS
