Senior journalist Shakya no more

KATHMANDU, May 10: Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Lalitpur District Chapter founder president and senior journalist Dharma Ratna Shakya has passed way.

KATHMANDU, May 10: Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Lalitpur District Chapter founder president and senior journalist Dharma Ratna Shakya has passed way.



He passed away at his own residence in Patandhoka in Lalitpur at the age of 86.


Shakya, who had been doing journalism since 2006 BS, had become FNJ Lalitpur District Chapter president from 2049 to 2053 BS.

Final rites of Shakya have been carried out at Shankhamul Ghat in Lalitpur today.


FNJ President Dr. Mahendra Bista, FNJ Lalitpur President Gyan Prasad Paudel, Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Karki, political leaders and journalists paid their last tribute to Shakya.


“The FNJ has lost an ethical, professional and custodian journalist. His demise has left an irreparable damage in the  field of Nepali journalism,” said the FNJ in a press release today.


Meanwhile, it has expressed deep sorrow over journalist Shakya’s death and expressed condolences to his family members.


Shakya is survived by his three sons.
