KATHMANDU, Nov 1: Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre, which is known for its specialist care in cardiology and cardiac surgery in Nepal, is to be found in a dire state due to lack of proper maintenance and sanitation. Although the hospital has a spacious compound, modern buildings and a beautiful garden, some of the building walls are soaking wet and covered with moss. The hospital wards, stairways, and the walls look as if these are never cleaned. Toilets meant for the patients and their visitors are in an equally sorry state. Worse still, the Emergency Ward feels like a deserted pilgrim shelter with not a single thing in order.
