Shrestha, Nagarkoti share lead

KATHMANDU, Feb 8: Nepal number one pro Shiva Ram Shrestha and Bhuwan Nagarkoti shared the lead after the first round of the Golfer Pilots NPGA Classic, the sixth event under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour, at the par-68 Royal Nepal Golf Club on Wednesday.

KATHMANDU, Feb 8: Nepal number one pro Shiva Ram Shrestha and Bhuwan Nagarkoti shared the lead after the first round of the Golfer Pilots NPGA Classic, the sixth event under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour, at the par-68 Royal Nepal Golf Club on Wednesday.



RNGC Shrestha and Nagarkoti of Gokarna Golf Club pro carded three-under 65 and they are one stroke ahead of Rame Magar, who shot two-under 66. Army Club’s Dhana Bahadur Thapa, who shot one-under 67, is fourth.

Rabi Khadka of RNGC is fifth at even-par 68, while Surya Prasad Sharma and Jayaram Shrestha are joint sixth at one-over 69. Bikash Adhikari, Bhuwan Kumar Rokka and Sanjay Lama are tied for seventh at two-over 70, while Sachin Prasad Bhattarai is 10th at 71.


Meanwhile, in amateur category, Subash Ghising is at the top with the score of three-over 71, while Binod Tamang is second at 73. Prajwal Gurung is third at 74.


A total of 31 professionals and 13 amateur players are taking part in the 54-hole tournament. The first and second rounds will be played at RNGC and the final round will be at the Gokarna Golf Club. 


The winner of the tournament will take home Rs 55,000 while the runner-up will be rewarded with Rs 37,000 and the third-placed will get Rs 25,000.
